Smith sends Senate GOP warning shots over reconciliation

House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) issued multiple warnings for the Senate GOP over possible changes to the House budget resolution on Wednesday, saying there’s likely only one narrow path to locking in the 2017 tax cuts permanently.

Speaking with former Speaker (and Ways and Means chair, as he loves to note) Paul Ryan at an AEI event, Smith also said the Senate’s “skinny” budget resolution could never pass the House because it doesn’t include tax cuts. Let’s get into the key news from Smith today.
