It sure seems like Basel III capital reform isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

The effort has received significant bipartisan pushback from members of Congress since its proposed implementation was unveiled in July 2023.

But with the news that this impasse seems likely to extend into the next administration, we wanted to ask lawmakers: better to get a simplified version of Basel done now? Or wait until the next administration?
