Tax bill dominates GOP lunch, problems abound

The bipartisan tax bill dominated the conversation at today’s Senate GOP lunch, according to senators in the room.

The takeaway? Senate Republicans have plenty of problems with the bill from Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.). And there’s some feeling that if this legislation doesn’t shift more to their liking, they might as well come back to it next year when much of the Trump tax cuts expire.
