This all comes as Republican tax writers in the House and Senate are picking up the pace to try to make decisions about what they want in a tax bill.

Tax meetings rule the day

Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee are meeting now at the Library of Congress to make decisions on how they want to write the tax bill.

The day of meetings is expected to run until votes this evening and then pick up again Wednesday. It’s a critical step as Ways and Means works to deliver on a tax package as part of the GOP’s reconciliation bill. How members want to incorporate President Donald Trump’s new tax priorities for the bill is expected to be a heavy focus of this week’s discussions, as we reported in the Sunday Vault.

Meanwhile, Republican senators on the Finance Committee are expecting to gather later today to keep working on tax plans, according to three sources. Reconciliation is also anticipated to be part of the conversation at Senate Republicans’ weekly lunch on Tuesday.
