Virginia lawmakers hail Capital One amid merger review

A sizable portion of the Virginia congressional delegation sent a letter to federal regulators lauding Capital One as the bank navigates a high-profile bank merger approval with Discover Financial.

The document, dated July 10 and first shared here, reads like a letter of recommendation for the Virginia-based credit card giant. Virginia lawmakers like Sens. Tim Kaine (D) and Mark Warner (D) and Reps. Gerry Connolly (D) and Rob Wittman (R) encourage regulators to “appropriately consider the contributions that Capital One has made to Virginia.”
