The Powell-Warren relationship thaw

Something remarkable happened in February. Federal Reserve Chair Jay Powell picked up the phone and spoke to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

OK, maybe that doesn’t sound remarkable. But two 15-minute phone calls on Feb. 5 and 10 between Warren and Powell mark the end of a no-contact phase between the two that covered almost four years. Powell and Warren last spoke privately in June 2021, according to Powell’s monthly calendars. You can read through them here.
