Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent huddled privately with Republicans on the House Budget Committee this morning to discuss tariffs, debt and the implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
During the meeting, the Trump administration’s plans to send out tariff rebate checks came up. Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) said he let Bessent know why he thinks it’s the wrong idea.
