The DCCC kicked off the next stretch of primaries by publicly choosing favorites in several contested races, a move that’s infuriating a host of rejected candidates and their allies.
The House Democratic campaign arm rolled out a new list of its “Red to Blue” candidates Monday morning. These candidates receive not only the committee’s blessing but also extra fundraising and strategic help.
The DCCC occasionally gets involved in primaries, like in Oregon and California last cycle. But this new Red to Blue list represents a serious escalation by the campaign arm. Of the eight new Red to Blue candidates, five are in truly contested primaries. And with Democrats in a strong position to win the House, the stakes are much higher.
