After days of silence, the House Republican leadership is beginning to slowly turn the screws on embattled GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales (Texas).
Speaker Mike Johnson said he expected to talk to Gonzales today amid multiple reports that the Texas Republican had an extramarital affair with an aide who later took her own life. Gonzales also allegedly sent sexually suggestive text messages to the aide, Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, in 2024. Santos-Aviles died by suicide in September 2025.
