Jordan seeks GOP support for speakership

News: House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is holding a meeting with outside conservatives this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. as he tries to build support to become the next speaker.

The meeting being held at the offices of the Conservative Partnership Institute, the Mark Meadows-linked group – comes as Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise furiously try to lock up support for their speaker race. Many House GOP insiders worry that neither Scalise nor Jordan can get the 218 votes needed to win the speakership.
