GOP frosh score key committee posts

News: The House Republican Steering Committee has put a slew of freshmen on the Appropriations and Energy and Commerce panels at the beginning of Congress for the first time in 14 years.

It’s a move by House GOP leaders to bolster their newest members heading into what could be a tough election cycle in 2026. House Republicans will be again trying to protect a razor-thin majority, but this time with Donald Trump in the White House.
