Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), a second-term lawmaker from Long Beach, will be the next ranking member of the House Oversight Committee.
Garcia beat Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) 150 to 63 in a caucus-wide vote conducted Tuesday morning via secret ballot. The other two candidates, Reps. Kweisi Mfume (D-Md.) and Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), dropped out of the contest before the vote. They came in third and fourth place, respectively, in the Steering and Policy Committee vote Monday night.
