Scalise wins speaker nomination

Stephen Joseph Scalise has won the House Republican Conference’s nomination to be speaker, completing a nine-year odyssey through the GOP leadership ranks. Scalise, 58, topped House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan of Ohio, to place him on the brink of becoming speaker.
