Emmer emerges from GOP vote weakened

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer is now the speaker designate. But he emerges from the Republican conference’s internal vote extremely weak.

Twenty-six House Republicans said they won’t support Emmer on the floor, a gigantic-sized hole that has lawmakers seriously doubting whether the Minnesota Republican can ever win the speakership.
