Menendez tells Dems he won’t resign

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) told Senate Democrats on Thursday that he will not resign after his indictment on bribery and corruption charges, but he did not appear to sway any senators during the party’s closed-door meeting.

According to multiple attendees, Menendez emphasized that he intends to fight the charges against him and won’t resign. There was an opportunity for senators to ask questions, but nobody did. Menendez largely repeated the statements he made publicly on Monday.
