Senate HELP Chair Bill Cassidy
(R-La.) is looking to take on the tough task of legislating college sports.
Cassidy will host a roundtable on Tuesday for senators to hear from student athletes and college athletics officials on the best ways to address the new NIL — or name, image and likeness — world and the patchwork of state laws surrounding the issue. The Senate HELP panel has jurisdiction over the employment status piece of NIL, which is often the most complicated.
