First in the Vault. Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) will introduce a resolution in the coming days aimed at banning U.S. senators from trading on prediction markets, according to a draft obtained by Punchbowl News.
Moreno’s resolution would amend the Senate’s rules by inserting a provision that would prohibit senators from entering “an agreement, contract, or transaction that provides for any purchase, sale, payment, or delivery” that depends on the outcome of an event.
Moreno is a supporter of prediction markets. Don’t mistake this as a change of heart. The Ohio Republican is doing his part to blunt one of the sector’s most pressing political problems – high-profile insider trading.
