Schumer says he was ‘disturbed’ by Menendez indictment

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday said the indictment of Sen. Bob Menendez was “upsetting,” adding that the longtime New Jersey Democrat’s alleged behavior “fell way, way below” the standard for senators.

But Schumer declined to join the majority of his Democratic colleagues who have called on Menendez to resign from the Senate. Schumer said Menendez is planning on addressing the Democratic Caucus on Thursday during a closed-door meeting.
