News: Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told GOP senators during a closed-door lunch meeting Tuesday that he supports moving forward with a vote to block California’s environmental policies through the Congressional Review Act, according to multiple attendees.
The former GOP leader’s support is a big boost for Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Majority Whip John Barrasso. The Senate Republican leaders have been working to convince a handful of holdouts to back the effort amid concerns about disregarding the Senate parliamentarian. McConnell’s comments could also help unlock support from other GOP holdouts.
