Senate Democrats came out swinging Wednesday morning against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Donald Trump’s controversial nominee for health and human services secretary, during the first of two days of confirmation hearings.

The 71-year-old Kennedy — whose own family members have lobbied against his confirmation — insisted to senators that he doesn’t oppose vaccines but is simply “pro-safety.”
