Senate GOP leaders are facing a serious — and potentially insurmountable — procedural hurdle as they try to get security funding for the East Wing ballroom into their reconciliation bill.
The Senate parliamentarian has advised Republicans that the language related to President Donald Trump’s ballroom project falls outside the jurisdiction of the two committees included in the budget resolution, according to multiple sources familiar with the decision. Anything involving the White House grounds would have to go through committees that have no role in the current bill.
