The Senate dealt President Donald Trump a significant rebuke Thursday, voting 52-47 to advance a war powers resolution aimed at curtailing the administration’s authority to use military force in Venezuela.
Five GOP senators — Sens. Josh Hawley (Mo.), Todd Young (Ind.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Rand Paul (Ky.) — voted with all Democrats, including swing-vote Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), to limit U.S. military action in Venezuela absent congressional approval.
