John Thune looks for deal to combine funding bills

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Monday he’s trying to strike a deal with the half-dozen GOP senators who are preventing the chamber from advancing a package of FY2026 funding bills.

The Senate voted overwhelmingly last week to advance the Military Construction-Veterans’ Affairs funding bill, which had strong bipartisan support in the Appropriations Committee.
