Senate Majority Leader John Thune is digging in today on his defense of a controversial provision that allows senators to sue the Justice Department if their phone records are obtained.

The recourse measure, which was slipped into the shutdown-ending government funding bill last week, has exposed deep divisions within the GOP and between Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson.
