Thune tells Republicans: House’s spending cuts may be too steep

News: Senate Majority Leader John Thune told GOP senators during a closed-door lunch Tuesday that it will be extremely difficult to achieve the $1.5 trillion in spending cuts outlined in the House Republican-passed budget resolution, according to multiple attendees.

Thune, who was answering a question about potential cuts to Medicaid benefits, said Republicans are going to have to “make hard choices” in order to achieve the spending cuts that could be necessary in a budget reconciliation package.
