Democrats press Chief Justice John Roberts on Samuel Alito

Top Senate Democrats are demanding a meeting with Supreme Court Justice John Roberts in light of reports about Justice Samuel Alito’s flying flags associated with extreme right-wing ideology.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) wrote a letter to Roberts today arguing that Alito “actively engaged in political activity, failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety, and failed to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the impartiality of the judiciary.”
