Supreme Court signals it may strike down Louisiana map

The Supreme Court appears poised to rule that Louisiana erred in creating a second Black-majority district in 2024, potentially a major blow to the scope of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Such a ruling could be used to challenge majority-minority districts across the South, although it’s not clear whether this would play out in time for the 2026 midterm elections.
