Tech: Cruz weighs in on FDA-style AI rules

Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday acknowledged the desire “to protect against catastrophic risk” from the most advanced artificial intelligence systems, while warning against regulatory overreach.

“What’s critical is that we continue to allow innovation,” Cruz said in response to a question about the possibility the Trump administration could propose pharmaceutical-style safety regulation of advanced AI.
