Durbin, Hawley want federal AI lawsuits

Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) think they know how to make artificial intelligence developers do more for user safety.

The lawmakers will release a bill Monday afternoon that would allow individuals, groups of consumers and businesses sue AI makers in federal court if their products harmed the would-be plaintiffs.
