Luján eyes areas of bipartisan agreement on telecom policy

Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) sees room for bipartisanship on telecom policy despite raising alarms about the direction of the Commerce Department and the Federal Communications Commission.

The Universal Service Fund – a program to promote service access to all Americans whose fate is in the hands of the Supreme Court – and crafting comprehensive spectrum policy are areas where Republicans and Democrats could come together, Luján told us.

We recently caught up with the New Mexico Democrat to discuss where he sees compromise opportunities in his new job as ranking member in the Senate Commerce Committee’s telecommunications and media panel.
