(R-Mo.) told us he’s close to finalizing a tax bill setting the rules for crypto and that a markup will come “very soon.”
“We’ve been putting in months of work,” Smith said. “We’re at the 1-yard line.”
Smith signaled the timing will depend on how discussions go with Ways and Means Democrats. GOP tax writers have been holding closed-door “policy hours” for months to assemble the digital asset bill. But Ways and Means Republicans always hoped they could ultimately get buy-in across the aisle.
