Republicans are backing President Donald Trump’s push to build a White House ballroom after this weekend’s shooting.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune told reporters the White House Correspondents’ Dinner attack pointed to “the need for modernization of that facility.”
Thune didn’t rule out trying to add provisions for the ballroom into the GOP’s reconciliation bill funding ICE and Border Patrol. But Thune noted that only the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees are in the budget resolution, which limits what Republicans can include in a final bill.
