President Donald Trump promised Monday that he would continue U.S. military strikes on Iran as long as he needed to and didn’t rule out the use of ground forces in the conflict.
In his first public comments since U.S. and Israeli forces launched attacks on Iran Friday night, Trump warned that the American bombing campaign could last for a month or longer.
But Trump didn’t go as far as he had over the weekend in calling for regime change in Iran, a notable shift in tone. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters on Monday that the goal of Operation Epic Fury wasn’t to overthrow the current Iranian government.
