Why Josh Hawley is pushing more stimulus checks

President Donald Trump asks, and Republicans on Capitol Hill deliver.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said Friday that he would introduce legislation “to send a rebate check to every working person in America,” bowing to a request from Trump. The idea would be to tap into tariff revenue generated by Trump’s ongoing trade wars with major U.S. trading partners. The amount of government revenue generated by the tariffs will run into the tens of billions of dollars – or more.
