The Government Accountability Office will investigate whether the Trump administration’s Federal Housing Finance Agency “misused federal authority and resources,” according to a letter released by Senate Democrats this afternoon.
The letter, dated Dec. 1, told the senators that the congressional watchdog had determined the investigation was “within the scope of its authority” and would take about four months to complete.
Democrats’ request, led by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), followed allegations from FHFA Director Bill Pulte that prominent Democrats had committed mortgage fraud.
