Carr will keep ‘enforcing’ public interest unless Congress acts

Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he’s in the “early stages” of crafting legislation to modify the Communications Act of 1934 to address the “public interest” standard.

Cruz told us there’s a “real need to reform” the standard, which he described as “an avenue for abuse.” But Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr, whose critics say has used the standard to chill speech, insists he’s not slowing down unless Congress acts.
