News: Senate Majority Leader John Thune is going to the border Friday with several Republican senators, including embattled Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas).
The trip is being put on by One Nation, a non-profit aligned with Thune. It’s the first time the group has put on a trip like this.
Also on the trip will be Sens. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), along with Senate candidates Mike Rogers of Michigan and Michael Whatley of North Carolina.
The group will hold a news conference in McAllen, Texas, to discuss the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s impact on the border and economy.
More news: Shil Patel, the chief of staff to Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), is leaving the Hill to become president of Ranger Global Advisors, an investment firm run by Alexander von Fürstenberg.
Daniel Keylin, Tillis’ longtime senior adviser, will replace Patel as chief of staff. Keylin has been with Tillis since the North Carolina Republican’s first Senate campaign in 2014, and has long been one of Tillis’ most trusted confidants.
Patel has worked for Tillis for nearly a decade and is one of the most influential GOP staffers when it comes to banking and economic policy.
