The Trump administration and a bipartisan group of governors urged the country’s largest grid operator on Friday to require tech firms to pay for any new power generation needed to support massive artificial intelligence data centers.
The move comes just days after President Donald Trump, who’s pivoted to several cost-of-living proposals, said energy-hungry data centers shouldn’t cause Americans’ utility bills to go up.
