President Donald Trump on Wednesday formalized the 25% “cut” the U.S. government will receive on sales of Nvidia and AMD artificial intelligence chips to China.
Trump signed an executive order that will impose a 25% tariff on semiconductors that are “transhipped” through the United States to other countries. The duty is expected to impact Nvidia’s H200 and AMD’s MI325X chips, which the president recently authorized to be sold to China.
