The Senate is on track to pass a massive FY2026 funding package, sending it to the House and kicking off a two-week sprint to renegotiate a full-year measure for the embattled Department of Homeland Security.
Senators are currently voting on amendments, with final passage on the $1.3 trillion package expected shortly. This won’t avoid a shutdown for a huge swath of the federal government, but with the House expected back Monday, the fallout may be minimal – as long as House GOP leaders can pass it.
