House and Senate war powers proponents will put lawmakers on record next week surrounding military action against Iran as President Donald Trump openly mulls imminent strikes against the U.S. adversary.
Top House Democratic lawmakers announced in a joint statement Thursday that they will force a vote on the bipartisan Iran war powers resolution from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) “as soon as Congress reconvenes.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who’s leading a parallel push in the Senate, said he expects a vote on his war powers resolution with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) “early next week.”
