President Donald Trump is leaning further into a risky strategy to boost military spending — reinforcing a dynamic that some defense hawks worry could lead to massive challenges down the line.
Preliminary FY2027 information released Friday by the Office of Management and Budget shows $350 billion of the $1.5 trillion the Trump administration wants to spend on the Pentagon would come through another reconciliation bill. The rest of the money would be funneled through the annual appropriations process.
