Reps. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) and Jay Obernolte (R-Calif.), the co-chairs of last Congress’ House artificial intelligence task force, unveiled a bill on Monday to codify more than 20 of the group’s final recommendations, including some previously bipartisan measures.
The package bill lands as the White House and GOP Hill leaders are fighting an uphill battle to put comprehensive national AI rules into law.
The pair’s legislation sidesteps the crucial issue of state preemption, however, which any final framework will need to solve.
