OpenAI President Greg Brockman was among the tech executives who founded Leading the Future, in part to block a state regulatory patchwork on artificial intelligence.
But as OpenAI begins to boost state rules on AI, the company’s vice president of global affairs, Chris Lehane, distanced it from the super-PAC network’s strategy.
“That’s not OpenAI,” Lehane told reporters on Wednesday, the same day the company endorsed a new Illinois bill designed to make it another state requiring transparency into the most advanced models. “It’s a super-PAC as an independent thing that runs on its own.”
