The House highway and infrastructure bill released late Sunday would open the way for autonomous trucks and buses across the country within the next few years.
The BUILD America 250 Act, which reauthorizes surface transportation programs for five years, includes a federal framework for autonomous commercial motor vehicles.
The provision is a win for the autonomous trucking industry and a sign Capitol Hill is getting more serious about driverless vehicles, although legislation for passenger vehicles like robotaxis remains more elusive.
