Rubio: There’s a two-step approach to Iran deal

Reaching a peace deal with Iran will require Tehran to “very clearly” announce it will reopen the Strait of Hormuz and commit to negotiating a denuclearization plan, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers Tuesday.

Appearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio outlined the two-phase approach to talks between the United States and Iran. The status of those discussions remains in flux amid mixed messages from President Donald Trump.
