The SALT wave is heading for Mar-a-Lago

House Republicans from New York, New Jersey and California are making the trip to Mar-a-Lago Saturday for a meeting that could set the tone for politically tense negotiations over the SALT cap.

There was a flurry of meetings this week among members focused on raising or eliminating the $10,000 cap on deducting state and local taxes – a creation of the 2017 Trump tax cuts – before blue-state Republicans are set to sit down with President-elect Donald Trump.

SALT supporters have been discussing a range of ideas to get something done. Other Republicans have their own, less ambitious pitches like simply doubling the cap for married couples. Will Trump play referee?
