A few Republicans are cracking open the door to seeking a formal authorization of President Donald Trump’s ongoing military action in Iran.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) is in the “early stages” of drafting an authorization of use of military force for the conflict, her office confirmed, a development first reported by Bloomberg. Some colleagues are open to that option.
“We’ve got to really start talking about that,” said Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). “I think that it would help the president legitimize the effort.”
