News. House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Jim Himes (D-Conn.) is hosting a member-only call for Democrats Monday night on “the national security value” of a key surveillance authority that’s set to expire next week.
Briefing lawmakers on FISA Section 702 will be officials from former President Joe Biden’s administration: Avril Haines, former Director of National Intelligence; Matt Olsen, former assistant attorney general for national security; and Joshua Geltzer, former legal adviser to the National Security Council, according to a notice we obtained.
The trio will discuss “the importance of not allowing Section 702 to expire,” among other things.
