House Democrats plan to force a vote on another Iran war powers resolution Tuesday night, as the U.S. campaign in the region nears the 60-day mark.
This resolution, from Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), is the third one the House will take up since the Middle East conflict began nearly two months ago. The prior two resolutions both fell short, while the Senate has defeated similar measures five times.
But this week, there’s a chance that no Democrats will break ranks to oppose the push. Rep. Jared Golden (Maine), the only Democrat who joined with Republicans to reject the most recent House war powers resolution, is a cosponsor of this one. That could make an already-close vote even tighter.
